Read MoreI can’t thank Abigail and her aunt Roxane enough for sharing their love of horses (and especially sweet Rosie) with me at a recent equine and equestrian portrait session! We met on a cloudy morning, with a small chance of rain, at a sweet little horse stable in Elkton, Florida. Just off the beaten path and perfect for a morning of photography. While we had a few must have shots on the list, we spent most of our time capturing moments of connection between Rosie and her favorite human, Abigail.
Read MoreWhen you started your professional equestrian photography career, I’m guessing your goal was to get as many people and horses behind the lens as possible. You marketed the heck out of yourself. And found you were pretty dang good at taking horse photos and drawing in customers.
Pose, shoot, digital download, next…
You quickly learned that squeezing all those equine photo sessions into your week took a toll on your family and home life, messing with your sanity.
Recently I had the opportunity to photograph Victory with her two horses, Joy and Jubilee (how great are those names?), out in Interlachen, Florida. The weather leading up to our photoshoot day was a bit soggy and we spent the morning just keeping an eye on the radar and our fingers crossed that we would have a rain-free couple of hours to capture everything that we hoped to capture. In addition to these images we created some equine black background portraits and a full family portrait including the rest of her herd. Victory was fabulous to work with and I could tell that she spent a ton of time preparing her horses for their big day in front of the camera.
Read MoreAvery and Kiefer reached out to Fast Horse Photography to capture some very unique images to celebrate their recent engagement and marriage. They wanted something a little different as their original plans to wed changed with the onset of the covid-19 pandemic. They were inspired to create a stunning collection of images for their home and office that included a horse. With the assistance of Pinto Pony Works, we hired Joy, the gorgeous grey pictured below, to make this collection of romantic images for the couple to always remember this time in the early days of their marriage.
Read MoreSometimes, in the course of my journey as an equine photographer, I get the opportunity to photograph a horse that I have photographed before with a previous owner. It was very exciting to meet Ari and learn that her beloved and GORGEOUS horse, Flicka, had been in front of my camera many years before. Ari and Flicka have a lovely bond that was a joy to capture as part of Ari’s equestrian senior portraits. Her session was held at The Florida Agricultural Museum on one of the very last days of Spring wildflowers before they burned away in the Florida heat.
Read MoreI love getting to photograph equestrian seniors before they head off to college! Hearing all about their plans, their excitement at the unknown, and knowing that the entire world is opening up to them for the first time. Maybe it’s because it takes me back to when the world was fresh and new and opportunities were endless. What a special time to capture. Claire and Snoopy won’t always be together, but when Claire looks back at these pictures we created together, I hope she is still full of the adventure, hope and excitement that she was at this time in her life.

Read MoreHaving to say goodbye to a beloved horse is one of the hardest parts of horse ownership. It is never easy. Sometimes when a horse has lived a good long life, saying goodbye, becomes a process of a lot of little things. Extra treats each morning that you are greeted with his nicker. Scratches in all his favorite spots. Watching daily for a sign that he is ready to go. Agonizing over making the call at the right time.
Read MoreAs I've gone through life with my various entrepreneurial experiences, I'm surprised by the depth of community surrounding me because of horses.
It doesn't matter where you've gone or what you've done when you are with people who love horses. The simple connection with and around equines always gives you something to talk about, both light-hearted and serious conversations.
Read MoreSeveral years ago I had the opportunity to create equine and equestrian art with Tina and her horses and pups in St. Augustine, Florida. We created a specific piece that was printed on a vivid metal surface and hung in her home. When her heart horse, Skip a gorgeous buckskin, came into her life she just knew she needed a companion piece to the one we created in the past. I was excited to work with Tina again and couldn’t wait to spend a little time in her positive energy and in the path of her big smile! Not to mention… Skip is such a gorgeous boy!
Read MoreOnce a horse girl, always a horse girl. That’s how I felt when watching the connection between Kenzie and her pony Nemo as they interacted in front of my lens. We knew from the initial planning of their session that the focus would be on highlighting their relationship and celebrating how far Kenzie has come in the early days of her hopeful equestrian career. She was excited to be finished with her high school curriculum and ready to be headed on to the next stage of her adult life.
Read MoreI’ve had the pleasure of photographing Amber and several of her horses over the years. I think the first time I had her in front of my lens was at a small local horse show. I later photographed her at a barn she was taking riding lessons at as part of a local 4-H team and of course we naturally progressed to holiday horse portraits. So it only felt right that I would work with Amber to create her dream shoot for her equestrian senior portraits located at her home in St. Augustine, FL!
Read MoreEquestrians in North East, Florida have spent the last couple of months gathering their holiday garlands, cutting ear holes in their Santa hats and decking their stalls for the perfect equine and equestrian holiday portraits. I’ve had the pleasure of photographing so many wonderful horses and humans this holiday season and assisting in the creation of Christmas and New Years cards that are being sent all over the world right at this very moment with hopes of arriving before Santa makes his landing on their rooftop!

As an equine photographer, and equestrian business owner of Fast Horse Photography, I find that I spend more time behind the camera and not enough time with my horses. This little gift has been a fun way to spend time with my horse and spoil him just a little bit before and after our rides.
Everything from the packaging to the equine and equestrian products and horsey gifts inside were adorable.

Maybe that means heading to the beach and putting your toes in the sand. Or taking that balloon ride you’ve always dreamed of. Peering over the basket at the sites and scenes below. Going on a sunrise trail ride with some friends. With no plans except to be one with your horse. Keep your eyes off your watch and focus on joy.

Read MoreI’ve never been a knick knacky kinda gal… personally, I like for the items I bring in to my home to have a story behind them. To bring back a memory of an experience I don’t want to forget. Most importantly to me, I want the décor in my home to mean something to my family. To make us smile, laugh, and to take us back to the moment.
