On a chilly, frosty morning, just as the sun was starting to rise, I had the pleasure of photographing Autumn and her magnificent Highlander horse, Thor. We chose the Florida Agricultural Museum as our location, and it couldn't have been more perfect for this session.

I had previously worked with Josie during my Horses on the Beach Photography Event the year before, where she shone as a model. This day was set apart by Lydia's stunning choice of attire and the natural beauty of our green Florida backdrop.
Read MoreSeveral weeks before the actual photography session, I had the pleasure of visiting Christina at her beautiful home in an equestrian community in Eustis, Florida. During our creative consultation, Christina shared her vision for her equine portraits. She showed me the specific space in her home where she hoped to display the portraits of her beloved horses. We took pictures of the wall space and measurements, ensuring that the artwork we were about to create would not only fit perfectly but also enhance the beauty of her home.

Read MoreI can’t thank Abigail and her aunt Roxane enough for sharing their love of horses (and especially sweet Rosie) with me at a recent equine and equestrian portrait session! We met on a cloudy morning, with a small chance of rain, at a sweet little horse stable in Elkton, Florida. Just off the beaten path and perfect for a morning of photography. While we had a few must have shots on the list, we spent most of our time capturing moments of connection between Rosie and her favorite human, Abigail.
Read MoreI love getting to photograph equestrian seniors before they head off to college! Hearing all about their plans, their excitement at the unknown, and knowing that the entire world is opening up to them for the first time. Maybe it’s because it takes me back to when the world was fresh and new and opportunities were endless. What a special time to capture. Claire and Snoopy won’t always be together, but when Claire looks back at these pictures we created together, I hope she is still full of the adventure, hope and excitement that she was at this time in her life.
Read MoreHaving to say goodbye to a beloved horse is one of the hardest parts of horse ownership. It is never easy. Sometimes when a horse has lived a good long life, saying goodbye, becomes a process of a lot of little things. Extra treats each morning that you are greeted with his nicker. Scratches in all his favorite spots. Watching daily for a sign that he is ready to go. Agonizing over making the call at the right time.
Read MoreAs I've gone through life with my various entrepreneurial experiences, I'm surprised by the depth of community surrounding me because of horses.
It doesn't matter where you've gone or what you've done when you are with people who love horses. The simple connection with and around equines always gives you something to talk about, both light-hearted and serious conversations.
Read MoreSeveral years ago I had the opportunity to create equine and equestrian art with Tina and her horses and pups in St. Augustine, Florida. We created a specific piece that was printed on a vivid metal surface and hung in her home. When her heart horse, Skip a gorgeous buckskin, came into her life she just knew she needed a companion piece to the one we created in the past. I was excited to work with Tina again and couldn’t wait to spend a little time in her positive energy and in the path of her big smile! Not to mention… Skip is such a gorgeous boy!
Read MoreI’ve had the pleasure of photographing Amber and several of her horses over the years. I think the first time I had her in front of my lens was at a small local horse show. I later photographed her at a barn she was taking riding lessons at as part of a local 4-H team and of course we naturally progressed to holiday horse portraits. So it only felt right that I would work with Amber to create her dream shoot for her equestrian senior portraits located at her home in St. Augustine, FL!
Read MoreI’ve never been a knick knacky kinda gal… personally, I like for the items I bring in to my home to have a story behind them. To bring back a memory of an experience I don’t want to forget. Most importantly to me, I want the décor in my home to mean something to my family. To make us smile, laugh, and to take us back to the moment.
Read MoreWhat makes you a badass cowgirl?
Is it the length of time you’ve known how to ride a horse? Or, how you saddle up and maneuver your trusty steed.
Do you need to know how to stay on a bronc or wrangle a calf at a rodeo for folks to call you a cowgirl?
Is sitting in the saddle three days in a row in inclement weather as you drive the herd home a rule?
How do you learn to be a cowgirl? Is it passed down through generations of working the land… the cattle… and the ranch?
Is being a cowgirl something you do, or is it who you are? Because it can’t just be about riding.
Maybe it is a little of both?
You guys… I want to share with you about a trip I took in June. I had the most amazing experience attending Art of the Cowgirl in Bozeman, Montana. A five-day event situated in pristine horse country.
A gathering to celebrate cowgirls and the impact they make on western lifestyle and culture.
Honoring who they are. Their history. And the generations who led them on their artistic path.
It was truly insane to see so many talented and gifted women in one place.
We’re talking about world-class champion horsewomen. Custom boot, saddle, and hat makers. Professional photographers, silversmiths, rawhide braiders, colt starters, sculptors, and more.
Read MoreI met Melissa and the horse she spends her time with, Vega, through her friend Stephanie when they decided to have an “equestrian friends” photography session together. Seriously, how amazing is that and why aren’t more horse friends doing it? Kira with Onsite Muse came out to the barn to do everyone’s hair and makeup and while I was waiting to start the session I kept smiling at all the laughter coming from them as they talked about their favorite times together spent with horses! We did a combination of green space images and black background portraits and Melissa did a couple of wardrobe changes to to fit the mood of the day. I hope they always remember this day and the laughter when they look at the wall art we created together.
Read MoreStephanie contacted me to capture some horse and human connection moments between herself and her new horse Rory at the barn that they often ride at, Knights Equestrian. Even though the two of them had only been together a short time, it was very clear that Rory was quite happy with his new human! Today you can see this team eventing all over the State of Florida!
Read MoreAs a photographer you can plan out a million sunrises and wake up one morning to something completely different! When mother nature gives you crazy fog… you roll with it! Donna and Comet were good sports for their equine and equestrian photography session held at The Florida Agricultural Museum in Palm Coast, Florida. Here are a few images from their equine and equestrian photography session!
Read MoreWhen I met with Kirsten to discuss her session goals for her equine photography portrait session with Fast Horse Photography, one thing was very clear. She really wanted to attempt to create an art piece that showcased her beautiful horses all together! Working with five horses can be a bit tricky when you want them all to stand quietly right up next to each other, but most importantly, one of her horses wasn’t doing well health wise. We worked together to create a timeframe that would work to pull it all together and I’m excited we were able to get it all done! I can’t wait to see it in print very soon!
Read MoreKadin’s senior portrait session took place at The Good Beginnings Riding Center where he just happens to spend much of his time when he isn’t studying. A couple of years ago I photographed Kadin as part of a barn day photography shoot, and was delighted when called back to capture his senior portraits. As a graduation of the University of Florida myself, I was so excited to hear that he was headed to Gainesville, Florida to start the next chapter of his life!
