Josie & Whisper: An Equestrian Sunrise to Remember

The most gorgeous light and sweetest little horse!

Having the chance to photograph Josie and her horse, Whisper, was an absolute dream come true! I had previously worked with Josie during my Horses on the Beach Photography Event the year before, where she shone as a model. Her appreciation for photography and its power to capture moments with horses was evident.

So, when Josie reached out about a session with her young horse, I was intrigued. I asked her, "What is the most important thing you hope to achieve from a personal equine and equestrian photography session with Fast Horse Photography?" She shared her wish to document this particular chapter of their journey together. Whisper had just turned three and was nearing the readiness to be ridden for the first time, marking the beginning of his saddle training. This milestone was significant in their relationship and symbolized the start of what she hoped to be many horseback adventures to come.

The session with Josie and Whisper took place at sunrise on a beautiful horse farm in Ormond Beach, Florida. The sunrise cast a golden light that enveloped us, creating a serene and magical setting. After enjoying the early morning sunrise, we did a look change and a tack change for Whisper and spent time capturing adorable connection moments between them in the places where they spent much of their time together.

Of course, when we found an old shed on the property full of stall clean shavings I recognized a great opportunity to create a few studio portraits of Whisper that are perfect for a more elegant wall art option.

During her viewing and ordering appointment, Josie decided to preserve the images we created in a gorgeous keepsake box. The Farmhouse style keepsake box was topped with her favorite image from the session and filled with all of her favorite prints.

I can’t wait until my next opportunity to work with Josie and Whisper again and see how far they have come together!
