Welcoming Aladdin: A New Foal Session at Emerald Shade Performance Horses

There’s nothing quite like a foal session to remind you how magical this horse life really is, and baby Aladdin definitely brought the sparkle. I recently had the pleasure of photographing this flashy little colt at Emerald Shade Performance Horses here in St. Augustine, FL, and I don’t think I stopped smiling once the entire time.

Aladdin is a 2025 colt by One and Only Asset out of Ima Cool Exception—and yep, he’s already living up to that fancy pedigree. He’s all legs, all attitude, and somehow, all sweetness at the same time. Classic foal behavior.

Our equine photography session took place under the sprawling oaks that Emerald Shade is known for, with golden light peeking through the branches and a warm Florida breeze that made the whole morning feel like a scene out of a movie. Aladdin had us all laughing as he showed off his playful side, prancing around the pasture and trying to get as close as possible to the camera to see what all the fuss was about.

But my absolute favorite moment? When this bold little colt curled up under his favorite oak tree and drifted off for a nap in the shade. Mischief paused. All softness and innocence. Those are the kinds of images that stop time for me.
